The War On Cars

“The War On Cars” was released on 2/20/20 as a long-form single to meant to accompany the announcement of John’s Freedom Tour 2020 Project: to bike the 3,500 mile Lewis & Clark historical trail, playing shows along the way. 20 days later, Tom Hanks announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and the pandemic suddenly became very real. Consequently, The Freedom Tour Project was put on hold.

The song remains a declaration of a non-violent war on traditional touring and fossil fuel consumption. It’s also a cry for freedom: freedom from traffic and car culture; freedom to travel at a slower pace.
